History of Riverdale Weber, Utah
Taken from the Utah Place Names. (Links Added)
-

Riverdale (Weber) is near I-15 north of Sunset. The settlement was an outgrowth of Ogden that was named for its proximity to the Weber River. It had earlier names of Jack Thompson Settlement for John C. Thompson, an early settler. Before this it was called Stringtown because the homes were built along the single road leading to and from Ogden.
