WARREN

Warren (Weber) was settled in 1870 as an outgrowth of Plain City, five miles northwest of Ogden on Salt Creek (Salt Creek was also the original settlement name). High winds would wash salt water from the Great Salt Lake up the creek, where it would crystalize and be harvested. On June 7, 1896, the settlement was officially named Warren to honor Mormon Stake President Lewis Warren Shurtliff.
