WHITE RIVER *White River (Uintah) enters from Colorado and drains into the Green River at the south end of the Wonsits Valley south of Ouray. The 1776 Dominguez-Escalante expedition called it the El Rio de San Clemente. Later the Spaniards named it the Rio Blanco, which was eventually anglicized to White River. John W. Van Cott |
