History of Yost, Utah
Taken from the Utah Place Names. (Links Added)

Yost (Box Elder) is on the north central slopes of the Raft River Mountains. The first name was George Creek for George, an early range rider who came into this area with Charles Yost. Yost remained in the area, built the first cabin on George Creek then becme the first postmaster in 1887. Yost and George arrived as cowboys from the Nevada Territory and worked for William Emery. After Yost built his cabin, he lived in it alone for six years until he married Maria Larsen from Terrace, on the south side of the mountains. For four years she was the only woman living in Yost.
